1. Q: How is autofollowing users on Twitter going to help me in getting more followers?
A: The whole theory behind the autofollowing feature is quite simple.
Because, when people on Twitter receive a notification that someone has started following them, they usually like to check out and see who this person is - and this here is the crucial point.
Because, if your Twitter profile is correctly set, meaning you tweet at least a few times every day or two (with quality posts - spam doesn't count) and if the users see value in what you have to say (and in most cases they will), then they will surely follow you back!
And from there on (after they've become your followers) - they will be constantly open to all of your messages, on any topic that you want their attention (be it for marketing, promotion or personal reasons).

The only requirement is that you don't follow more people than your daily limit (which is usually 500-1,000 people per day), but this is not a problem since Twitter will automatically disallow following of new people for that day if you pass your limit (without doing anything to your account).
To continue, after you get receive over 2,000 followers, your daily limits will increase, since your account will get internally "verified" by Twitter.
And for unfollowing - there are almost no limits on unfollowing, but remember to wait at least 24 hours after you've followed users so you've given them enough time to check out your profile and become followers.

A: This is because you have passed your daily following/unfollowing limits, and you will need to wait at least 24 hours before trying to add new users again.
